CHARPAT STANZA

ਗਲਿਤੰ ਜੋਗੰ

ਦਲਿਤੰ ਭੋਗੰ

These Yogis who had been immersed in Yoga and who had withdrawn from all enjoyments,

ਭਗਿਵੇ ਭੇਸੰ

ਸੁਫਿਲੇ ਦੇਸੰ ॥੪੧੯॥

Had been wearing the ochre-colored clothes of various countries. 419.

ਅਚਲ ਧਰਮੰ

ਅਖਿਲ ਕਰਮੰ

ਅਮਿਤ ਜੋਗੰ

ਤਜਿਤ ਭੋਗੰ ॥੪੨੦॥

These Yogis of firm conduct and sinless Karmas had abandoned all enjoyments.420.

ਸੁਫਲ ਕਰਮੰ

ਸੁਬ੍ਰਿਤ ਧਰਮੰ

ਕੁਕ੍ਰਿਤ ਹੰਤਾ

ਸੁਗਤੰ ਗੰਤਾ ॥੪੨੧॥

These vow-observing Yogis of good conduct and sinless Karmas had given up all evil actions.421.

ਦਲਿਤੰ ਦ੍ਰੋਹੰ

ਮਲਿਤੰ ਮੋਹੰ

These were the people who had destroyed attachment and deceit and

ਸਲਿਤੰ ਸਾਰੰ

ਸੁਕ੍ਰਿਤ ਚਾਰੰ ॥੪੨੨॥

Performers of good actions like the waters of all the sacred rivers.422.

ਭਗਵੇ ਭੇਸੰ

ਸੁਫਲੰ ਦੇਸੰ

They were kind-hearted people, wearing ochre-coloured clothes,

ਸੁਹ੍ਰਿਦੰ ਸਰਤਾ

ਕੁਕ੍ਰਿਤੰ ਹਰਤਾ ॥੪੨੩॥

Purifying all the countries far and near were the destroyers of evil actions.423.

ਚਕ੍ਰਿਤੰ ਸੂਰੰ

ਬਮਤੰ ਨੂਰੰ

Seeing their radiance even the sun was wonder-struck

ਏਕੰ ਜਪਿਤੰ

ਏਕੋ ਥਪਿਤੰ ॥੪੨੪॥

And someone out of them was repeating the Name of the Lord, and someone was singing the Praises of the Lord.424.

ਰਾਜੰ ਤਜਿਤ੍ਵੰ

ਈਸੰ ਭਵਿਤ੍ਵੰ

While remembering and repeating the Name of the Lord,

ਜਪੰ ਜਪਿਤ੍ਵੰ

ਏਕੰ ਥਪਿਤ੍ਵੰ ॥੪੨੫॥

They were firmly establishing the Lord in their mind.425.

ਬਜਤੰ ਨਾਦੰ

ਬਿਦਿਤੰ ਰਾਗੰ

The horns were being sounded and there was the singing of Ragas (musical modes)

ਜਪਤੰ ਜਾਪੰ

ਤ੍ਰਸਿਤੰ ਤਾਪੰ ॥੪੨੬॥

The Name of the Lord was being repeated, which had frightened the sins.426.

ਚਕਿਤੰ ਚੰਦੰ

ਧਕਤੰ ਇੰਦੰ

The moon was wondering and Indra, seeing their devotion, had been fearful

ਤਕਤੰ ਦੇਵੰ

ਭਗਤੰ ਭੇਵੰ ॥੪੨੭॥

All the gods were looking at them.427.

ਭ੍ਰਮਤੰ ਭੂਤੰ

ਲਖਿਤੰ ਰੂਪੰ

The ghosts, fiends and ganas, seeing their beauty were wonder-struck

ਚਕ੍ਰਤੰ ਚਾਰੰ

ਸੁਹ੍ਰਿਦੰ ਸਾਰੰ ॥੪੨੮॥

And all were thinking about them with sincerity.428.

ਨਲਿਨੰ ਸੂਅੰ

ਲਖਿ ਅਉਧੂਅੰ

ਚਟ ਦੇ ਛਟਾ

ਭ੍ਰਮ ਤੇ ਜਟਾ ॥੪੨੯॥

The Yogi Dut saw there a parrot, who was released from bondage and immediately flew away.429.

ਤਕਿਤੰ ਦੇਵੰ

ਬਕਿਤੰ ਭੇਵੰ

ਦਸ ਨਵ ਸੀਸੰ

ਕਰਮਕ ਦੀਸੰ ॥੪੩੦॥

As soon as the pious Dutt saw him, he flew away and made known to Dutt this secret that the action-prone man with ten senses and none doors was superior amongst beings.430.

ਬੁਧਿਤੰ ਧਾਮੰ

ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿਤੰ ਬਾਮੰ

ਭ੍ਰਮਤੰ ਮੋਹੰ

ਮਮਤੰ ਮੋਹੰ ॥੪੩੧॥

He is the abode of wisdom, but falling in the attachment of his wife etc. he remains in illusion.431.

ਮਮਤਾ ਬੁਧੰ

ਸ੍ਰਿਹਤੰ ਲੋਗੰ

ਅਹਿਤਾ ਧਰਮੰ

ਲਹਿਤਹ ਭੋਗੰ ॥੪੩੨॥

The individual entrapped in the key of wisdom and mildness, he is absorbed in pleasure and is removed far away from Dharma.432.

ਗ੍ਰਿਸਤੰ ਬੁਧੰ

ਮਮਤਾ ਮਾਤੰ

ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੇਹੰ

ਪੁਤ੍ਰੰ ਭ੍ਰਾਤੰ ॥੪੩੩॥

His wisdom seized by the attachment of mother, wife, sons and brothers.433.

ਗ੍ਰਸਤੰ ਮੋਹੰ

ਧਰਿਤੰ ਕਾਮੰ

ਜਲਤੰ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੰ

ਪਲਿਤੰ ਦਾਮੰ ॥੪੩੪॥

Engrossed in lust, he is absorbed in attachments and burning in the fire of anger, he is occupied in the collection of wealth.434.

ਦਲਤੰ ਬਿਯੋਧੰ

ਤਕਿਤੰ ਦਾਵੰ

ਅੰਤਹ ਨਰਕੰ

ਗੰਤਹ ਪਾਵੰ ॥੪੩੫॥

On getting an opportunity, he destroys the great warriors for his self-interest and in this way, he falls into hell.435.

ਤਜਿਤੰ ਸਰਬੰ

ਗ੍ਰਹਿਤੰ ਏਕੰ

ਪ੍ਰਭਤੰ ਭਾਵੰ

ਤਜਿਤੰ ਦ੍ਵੈਖੰ ॥੪੩੬॥

If forsaking all, the Lord is adored with sincerity, and then all the sufferings and malice come to an end.436.

ਨਲਿਨੀ ਸੁਕਿ ਜਯੰ

ਤਜਿਤੰ ਦਿਰਬੰ

ਸਫਲੀ ਕਰਮੰ

ਲਹਿਤੰ ਸਰਬੰ ॥੪੩੭॥

If the being relinquishes all like the abandonment of the cage by parrot, then all his actions can bear fruit and he achieves the position of superiority.437.

ਇਤਿ ਨਲਿਨੀ ਸੁਕ ਉਨੀਸਵੋ ਗੁਰੂ ਬਰਨਨੰ ॥੧੯॥
